Copa Airlines takes its passengers into the MAX Era. The airline, which has elevated air connectivity in Latin America to an unprecedented level, once again raises the standard in customer service and flight experience for the region’s entire aeronautical industry. Passengers can now travel to more destinations throughout the continent and do so in an atmosphere of comfort, spaciousness, and renewed relaxation.
Panorama of the Americas offers you a glimpse of the main innovations that Copa Airlines introduces with its new MAX fleet of aircraft, as well as details of the ceremonial MAX launch in Panama that shows how much the airline values this step in its evolution.
The First Day of the MAX Era
The Max Era began on September 18 when Copa Airlines presented its first Boeing MAX 9 aircraft in a spectacular and emotional event before collaborators, business partners, influencers, special guests, and Panamanian and international journalists. The MAX 9 is the first of 71 aircraft that the airline will receive in the coming years as part of an order made in 2015 to the prominent North American aeronautical manufacturer.
Development and Growth
“After 70 years of service, the MAX 9 represents a new era for Copa Airlines. We incorporated the latest Boeing technology with the arrival of this aircraft, which will be part of one of the industry’s youngest and most modern fleets. In addition, the MAX 9 is a symbol of development and growth that fills us with pride and motivates us to continue innovating, finding new ways to foster efficiency in our daily practices, and promoting Panama as a top destination throughout the continent,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.
New Executive Dreams Class
With the MAX 9, Copa Airlines launches the new and modern Executive Dreams Class, with 16 reclining lie-flat seats. Each seat has a 16-inch touch screen with remote control, power and USB outlets, and space to store personal items. Depending on their destination, passengers in the Dream class will receive an upgraded premium kit consisting of headphones, larger pillows and blankets of high quality fabrics, as well as an amenities kit, which includes a sleep mask and socks with collectable designs from the Dreams concept, among other items.
A Renewed Main Cabin
The main cabin also has innovations to offer. The new Economy Extra class includes 24 seats and provides travelers greater legroom, 10-inch touch screens, individual USB input, and two alternating current (AC) outlets in each row of three seats. In addition, Economy Extra passengers will have priority boarding. Meanwhile, the upgraded Economy class has modern and stylish Meridian seats, individual USB ports, and storage for mobile devices.
The Copa Showpass New Entertainment System
The onboard entertainment system also debuts attractive innovations. Now, all passengers on the MAX 9 can enjoy the great variety of content that the Copa Showpass service offers by connecting to the aircraft’s internal network from a personal computer or mobile device. By accessing the Copa Airlines app or using a web browser, travelers will have a variety of Hollywood, Panamanian, and Spanish-American movie titles to choose from on the IFF Panama channel, as well as television series, magazines, documentaries, and music.
A Quieter, Calmer, and More Sustainable Trip
The MAX 9 line of aircraft incorporate features that make them more environmentally friendly. Their advanced CFM LEAP-1B engines and their new AT winglets, built to the highest quality standards, improve fuel consumption by 14%, generate 40% less noise, and emit 50% less pollution into the environment. The MAX 9 is, without a doubt, one of the most modern and sustainable aircraft on the market.
The Future of the MAX Era
Two days after the launch, the new aircraft completed its first commercial service to Tampa (United States), where it was received with a water salute. Starting in December, the new MAX 9 will be used for the longest routes in Copa Airlines extensive network of 80 destinations in 32 countries. The airline will add an additional four MAX 9 aircraft to its fleet between October and December, eight in 2019, and nine in 2020, until the order of 71 Boeing aircraft is complete.
The acquisition of these aircraft is a reason for pride and a symbol of development and growth for Copa Airlines. It also reflects the commitment to constantly innovate and continue raising the quality of the already recognized world-class service that the airline offers daily from its Hub of the Americas in Panama, the most complete and convenient connection center in Latin America.
